Instructions:
Replacing the case on your Holden remote is a straightforward task that can be accomplished by anyone.
Required Tools:
  • A pair of Circlip (reverse) pliers
  • A small fine point flathead screwdriver
  • A small Phillips head screwdriver
It will take about 10 minutes of your time. Please be aware that most of the time the original key blade will not be suitable for our replacement case. In these cases, you'll need to have your blade cut by a qualified automotive technician or locksmith.

Before we start it is recommended to remove your battery from the old shell. To do this take the back of the casing off by flipping your blade out & using the circlip at the back of the opening where the key came from gently remove the back plate & remove the battery.

  1. If your original shell has a logo on the back using the fine point flathead screwdriver gently lever the logo up. Once the logo is lifted there will be a small Phillips head screw exposed, remove the screw. If your key doesn't have a logo on the back proceed to step 2.
  2. With the blade still unfolded there will be a small opening right behind the blade mounting. Insert the circlip pliers & pry apart the case
  3. Extract the internal circuit board. Please verify that the transponder is present on the circuit board. This is a small, rectangular chip located on the top end of the circuit board. If it is absent check the upper right of the old case. It may need to be transferred.
  4. Place the circuit board & transponder into the new key case in the correct positions. There are always little tabs or clips to put them into to make sure they are 100% aligned with the buttons when complete.
  5. Securely snap & fasten the new case & install the screw in the back. Then conduct a test to ensure that everything functions properly.

For those with a moderate level of handiness, we have included the steps to exchange the blades from the old case mount to the new case mount.

  1. Use a 0.8mm pin punch to extract the roll pin from both new & old key blade mounts. Remember to retain the pins from each.
  2. Note that the pin is inserted into a groove on the blade, which is slightly misaligned in the old blade compared to the new one.
  3. Use a needle file to carefully elongate the groove in the correct direction, checking the alignment with the old blade in the new mount until you can see through the pinhole.
  4. Once the groove is correctly elongated, use the original blade in the new mount and reinstall the roll pin. Finally, reassemble the key.
